What Makes Our School Unique?
Our students are provided a rigorous academic curriculum with a strong emphasis on math and science that easily transitions them into the engineering program at Martin Luther King Magnet School. Once at MLK, the Head Magnet student consistently qualifies for Honors High School Algebra I. Head offers a full aacademic program where technology is used as a tool to enhance the effectiveness of the learning process. Our students are involved in "Hands on Science" learning experiments in the science lab taught by graduate students from Vanderbilt University. Students can elect to attain additional science instruction by participating in the science club after school. Although our emphasis is on math and science, the arts are certainly not ignored. Our students also participate in visual and performing arts that include music, as well as exhibits of their artistic talent. We also encourage our students to participate in the athletic programs and other extra curricular activities. Our faculty encourages our students to make the most of their middle school years. We realize that middle school is a time of transition and we work to ensure that all students make this transition smootly. We are proud of the many accomplishments of the students at Head Magnet School and invite you to visit us at any time. |

The school has a geographic priority zone (GPZ) giving 30% of available seats to students residing in this area. However, all students interested in attending a magnet school must submit applications prior to the deadline. For more information, call 259-INFO. |
