Standard School Attire

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As you may already know,  Standard School Attire is required for all schools in the district. Head Magnet Middle School has selected the following additional shirt colors that our students will be allowed to wear when classes begin. The colors for Head Magnet will be blue, yellow, green and redWe are not restricting the colors to a particular shade – for example, a yellow shirt can be canary or gold.

We believe the variety of Standard School Attire will make it easy for you to obtain the proper back-to-school clothing as you shop over the summer. You may also want to check the Standard Attire website because we will be posting a list of major retailers and small businesses we have contacted to obtain the best prices for our families.

You may also click here for specific guidelines, but here’s a general summary of  the requirements for student attire:

  • All pants, shorts, skirts, skorts or jumper-dresses must be navy blue, black or any shade of khaki. Shorts, skirts, skorts and jumpers-dresses must be below finger tips in length. To avoid sagging, belts are required with pants. Denim jeans of any color and cargo pants or shorts are NOT allowed.
  • All shirts must have a collar and short or long sleeves – and must be tucked into pants, shorts, skirts or skorts. Acceptable collar styles include polos, dress-style with or without buttons, or turtlenecks. Manufacturer logos, if any, must be smaller than two inches, although school logos are not limited in size.
  • White and navy blue are acceptable shirt colors for any MNPS school. In addition, each MNPS school is selecting four shirt colors that are acceptable for the students at that school.

We’re looking forward to starting the next school year with a renewed emphasis on safety, discipline and student learning. Please do your part to help us by ensuring your child is dressed in Standard School Attire, beginning with the very first day of school.
