Welcome to Head Middle Magnet School


     

An Important Message from Dr. Carr:

Head Middle Magnet School is now classified as a Title I school. We will hold a meeting on December 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. before the Winter Concert in the cafeteria in order to explain this status and the funds that come along with the status. All parents who attend this meeting will also vote on the use of the funds that come with the Title I status. I encourage all parents to please attend this meeting.

Food Drive Results

Head Middle Magnet students went above and beyond with our Food Drive benefiting Charis Ministries sponsored by the Student Council. The grade level winners will all receive ice cream parties and the schoolwide winner will receive a pizza party. Here are the results:

5th grade – Noel with 513 items or 25.7 items per student
6th grade – Hayslett with 716 items or 27.5 items per student
7th grade – Hardin with 92 items or 4.6 items per student
8th grade – Hawkins with 162 items or 8.5 items per student Schoolwide winner – Cancasci with 845 items or 32.5 items per student

Congratulations and thanks for helping to feed the hungry of Nashville!

Head Magnet


Pastries with Parents will be held on Friday, November 20 in the Library beginning at 8:00 a.m. Mrs. Amanda Dixon from Vanderbilt’s School for Math and Science will talk about what the school has to offer its upcoming 9th grade class and the application process in order to apply for the school.

Head Middle Magnet School of Mathematics and Science Named One of 14 Effective Schools

14 Davidson County Schools included among Tennessee’s Most Effective 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 6, 2008) – Several MNPS elementary and middle schools have been named by Education Consumers Foundation as some of Tennessee’s most effective schools. The schools include: Amqui Elementary, Paragon Mills Elementary, Lockeland Elementary, Kirkpatrick Elementary, Craighead-Smithson Academy, Stanford Montessori, McGavock Elementary, Charlotte Park Elementary, Meigs Middle, West End Middle, Dupont Tyler Middle, Head Middle, Dalewood Middle and McMurray Middle.

Picture of TigerAt Head Middle Magnet School, we believe that all children can learn and that they do so through a variety of styles. We have a goal orientated learning community made up of dedicated students, parents and teachers. Our theme based educational program emphasizes Math and Science. Math skills help every student problem solve to a higher degree, while the study of Science increases students' ability to use discovery to investigate real world situations. Technology is integral to our curriculum at Head Magnet School, which motivates students to explore all areas of academics and related arts!
